Netwalker Ransomware Operators Allegedly Struck Woodstream

One of the Deloitte studies revealed that companies involved in the manufacturing business are said to be more exposed to cyberattacks. According to MAPI, 40% of manufacturing firms experienced a cyberattack in the last year out of which 38% of them experienced over $1 million in damages.

Recently, during the deepweb and darkweb monitoring our researchers came across a leak post in which the Netwalker ransomware operators claim to have breached the Woodstream Corporation and in possession of the company’s sensitive data.

Founded in the year 1830, and since then Woodstream has been manufacturing and marketing consumer products. Woodstream is a long-standing privately held company and a global manufacturer and marketer of quality branded lawn and garden, pet, and pest control products. With over 450 employees the company has been earning annual revenue of around $146.34 million.

Netwalker operators have claimed the attack through the message posted on their online blog-:

The Netwalker group has also shared a few screenshots to support their claim in which you can spot data folders and data files such as audit reports, confidentiality agreements, endorsement related documents, POS published documents, seller’s data and much more. Below are the snapshots of the sample of the data leak of Woodstream Corporation.

It seems that the Netwalker ransomware group would tend to publish company’s sensitive data within a period of 29 days.

Tips on how to prevent ransomware attacks –

  • Only download from sites you trust
  • Never use unfamiliar USBs
  • Use security software and keep it updated
