We Cyble, suspect an increase in data leaks in near future. Recently, during monitoring process of data leaks the Cyble Research Team found Part 1 of the data leak of Beaver Street Fisheries Inc. on a DarkWeb blog on 1st October 2020. No Ransom demand has been mentioned in this blog at this stage.
Beaver Street Fisheries is an importer, manufacturer and distributor of quality frozen seafood products with headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. with operations in frozen seafood industry, servicing both food service and retail sectors with estimated revenue of year 2020 about $207.28 million USD.
Most of the leaked data is financial with dates referencing from May 2005 to the August 2020. This part 1 of leak includes various types of files with titles including Payroll, Sales Analysis w margins, Balance Sheet and Income Statement, Inventory by Commodity, Projection Model, Financial Statements, etc.
We suspect that this leak data probably has been collected from a file server. There is a possibility that Threat Actor might have more data to release as current leak is part 1 containing two zip files of 2.9GB and 3.3GB in size.
The Payroll excel files within this leak are password-protected and these are the only ones which are safer than rest of the leaked files. However, there are tools available which can crack a password to gain the access to the information. We recommend using a strong password for sensitive documents.
A folder name ‘To Wells Fargo’ contains documents such as Accounts Receivable, Inventory and other financial documents in detail.
Tips on how to prevent cyber-attacks –
- Never click on unverified/unidentified links
- Do not open untrusted email attachments
- Only download from sites you trust
- Never use unfamiliar USBs
- Use security software and keep it updated
- Backup your data periodically
- Keep passwords unique and unpredictable
- Keep Software and Systems up to date
- Train employees on Cyber Security
- Set up Firewall for your internet
- Secure Wi-Fi
- Protect files with a password.
- Make a Cyber Security assessment
