Large South African Bank, NedBank, Customers Details Sold in Darkweb

When we first got the intel that data is available for sale – we wasted no time and jumped on the investigation.

Why were we intrigued: We have customers from South Africa at AmIbreached.com who are utilising our services, and we suspected that some of them might be using this bank.

About NedBank: Nedbank Group is a financial services group in South Africa offering wholesale and retail banking services as well as insurance, asset management, and wealth management. Nedbank Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nedbank Group. Nedbank’s primary market is South Africa.

On this instance, our researchers decided to progress. But looking at the data itself, we weren’t wrong as it did have significant information in it.

What’s next: Cyble is indexing this information at the darkweb monitoring engine. Users’ who are registered at Cyble’s data breach monitoring platform, AmIbreached.com , will receive an automatic notification if their information is affected.
