Rising Cyber Attacks in India

India is not only the second-largest populated country but is also ranked as the second-largest labour force country after China. Most of the Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) opt to set up their base in India due to the availability of cheap labour and resources. Even with the rapidly growing company base, India cyberattack defence is still lacking behind. Most of the biggest cyberattacks in India have been focused on big banks. For instance, the Cosmos bank based in Pune got struck by a data breach cyberattack which led to the stealing of nearly $13 million by the cybercriminals. This data breach cyberattack shook the entire Indian banking sector. Apart from it, other Indian sectors have also been targeted by cybercriminals. One of the major breathtaking data breaches cyberattack which shook the Indian government involved nearly 1.1 billion Indian Aadhaar cardholder’s personal details being leaked online by the cybercriminals. In accordance with these attacks, the Cyble Research Unit (CRU) uncovered a significant data breach at the Indian Tax Office Department which has exposed their citizen’s PAN card details. This data breach involved the leakage of over 800GB of sensitive data which was put up for sale by the cybercriminals.

Nowadays browsing or operating online in India is just like going in the lion’s cave. Most of the cyberattacks in India occur just because organizations do not implement appropriate operational or safety measures. For instance, the cyberattack which struck at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant took place just because they did not have any running operational or safety measures. In order to increase the security level of organizations, Cyble is providing services that include enabling faster detection of cyber threats via Cyble Vision and providing clear visibility to third-party cyber threats and risks via their Third-Party Cyber Risk Intelligence Platform. Over time, it can be observed that cyberattacks have many other devastating effects which not only include a company or an organization to come to complete shutdown but can also lead an entire market or industry to come to a complete halt. Looking into it, companies and even governments should start taking care of the security level of themselves vigorously.
