SFO STRUCK BY A WEB COMPROMISE

The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is a major gateway to Europe and Asia, along with that it serves around 45 international carriers. Recently, last month two of SFO’s websites got hacked by the group of cybercriminals. This cyberattack led to the disclosure of their user’s login credentials at both sites. The compromised websites mainly include SFOConnect.com and SFOConstruction.com. As per the cyber researchers, this cyberattack was being executed by the insertion of malicious computer code by the cybercriminals on the websites to gain access to SFO’s user’s login credentials. The Information Technology and Telecommunication (ITT) team of SFO stated that the malicious code had been removed from both of their affected websites, and they advised their users whoever visited any of the affected websites using the Internet Explorer web browser outside of its managed network to change the device password used to log into the endpoint hardware.

In the present world, these types of malware attacks are increasing at a rapid pace and becoming a big reason for organizations to worry about. For instance, recently the Cyble Research Unit (CRU) identified a cyberattack in which the Maze ransomware group breached LTD Broadband and gained access to their database. Similar to it, CRU also detected another cyberattack in which Centro Inc database got breached by the Maze ransomware operators. With the vision to reduce the number and pressure of cyberattacks, Cyble has come up with providing the services which include enabling faster detection of cyber threats via Cyble Vision and providing clear visibility to third-party cyber threats and risks via their Third-Party Cyber Risk Intelligence Platform.
