220K+ records of Jammu & Kashmir residents allegedly leaked on Darkweb

Dark web is engulfed in controversies as it is a hotbed for threat actors to disseminate stolen information as it hosts multiple forums and marketplaces where these actors leak and sell information procured illegally through data breaches.

In December 2020, 100GB+ India focused data was leaked. More recently, 200 million+ records of Chinese citizens was for sale on the darkweb.

Presently, the list of major data breaches is endless

Recently, our research team at Cyble found a post in the cyber-crime market where a threat actor claimed to be in possession of more than 220k+ unique records of Jammu and Kashmir residents on a cybercrime forum.

As per the analysis, the leaked data contains personally identifiable information (PII) fields –

(2) Gender

(3) Mobile Number

(4) Email Id

(5) Residential Address

(6) Date of Birth.
